Sew Grateful week started over at My Happy Sewing Place and she's got an awesome page filled with giveaways (30 different ones as I type!!) from generous bloggers from around the world!
There are also links to our reflective posts and from Wednesday, Sharing Resources with hints, tips and reviews; then Thursday will be Sew Grateful creations.
I really wanted to offer a tracing of a pattern from one of the three Drape Drape books to inspire & motivate more of you to try them - however I've not arranged my written permission slip from the publishers in time ;(
Gazing longingly at the giveaways on offer - Those trousers are mine, mine I plead!!! ;) - I am humbled at some of the fabulous patterns, notions, accessories and fabrics that are being given away.
Postage from this corner of the world will always be prohibitive, and I love that Gingermakes and FallingThroughYourClothes are offering .pdf giveaways!
I have two larger sized patterns that I'm happy to mail internationally, if you don't mind sea shipping, or I'll buy you a pattern* from Disparate Disciplines ;)
I really like Mari's Dandelion Dress which is a great raglan top or shift dress, but not a 'shift dress, shift dress'…(IYKWIM)…
... and I've just picked up the cutest stretch knit from Tessuti for a pair (or three) of RoseHip tights - for those dresses where leggings just won't do!
… I may also have the yellow tailed cami & be adding the avocado hoodie as it gets cooler...
*A USD$10 gift voucher for the Disparate Disciplines store - I have no affiliation with Disparate Disciplines, I just enjoy her designs and think you might as well.
Did I mention that I love the online sewing and blogging community!
I've really enjoyed getting to know Australian sewists 'in real life' - A huge Thank You to TJ who organised both the Holywood Costume meet up in Melbourne in May and the ModernLove exhibition in Bendigo in November.
Ongoing Thanks to Rachel for the monthly Social Sewing Sessions and Kat is just wonderful for making Frocktails and the Boxing Day Sale Spontaneous Sewists' Extravaganza happen! ;)
The 2014 Frocktails is in Sydney, but I hear murmuring that we may catch up in Melbourne at some stage as well.. (perhaps I'll volunteer to help organise something)
Thank You to everyone whom I've met IRL & the rest whom I feel like I have through your blogs & comments - & who'd have known there were so many of us with short legged companions!
To win my Sew Grateful Giveaway, all you have to do is leave a comment before the end of Friday & let me know which you prefer - and if you have any suggestions for giving thanks, please feel free to share them as well ;)
Oh, and the patterns that are too large for me, but might be of interest to someone else are:
Simplicity 8255, 1978 princess seamed semi-shirt dress (size 18, 40"bust) & Simplicity 2609 skirts (uncut sizes 16-24) |
I really enjoyed meeting you and the family last year. Hope to see you sometime in Sydney:)
ReplyDeleteHey, great pics of your meet-ups! Isn't meeting up with folks in real life the best?? I wish we all lived closer or (better still) we had teleportation perfected and could visit at the drop of a hat, amirite? The patterns are too big for me, but I'd love a chance to win Mari's Dandelion dress! I've been eyeing it lately. Please drop on by my blog and enter to win some sewing goodies, if you see something there that interests you. :) http://gjeometry.com/2014/02/24/sew-grateful-giveaway-how-about-some-red-and-some-threads/
ReplyDeleteOh, I'd love a chance to win the Rosehip tights pattern! I've been eyeing that up for the past week, such an interesting design. :-) Thanks for the chance to be in to win!
ReplyDeleteThanks Maria, I really enjoyed meeting and spending time with you as well, it was lovely ;)
ReplyDeleteI think we definitely need to get Kitty & Mac working on that transportation device! I think you'd enjoy the Dandelion ;) & feel free to bribe Mac as he's in charge of the selection process ;)
ReplyDeleteAren't they fabulous! It was the back leg seam that sealed the deal, I can't wait to get into my sewing space & get to them!
ReplyDeleteOh, I've been eyeing the DD patterns for a while now! I do love the Dandelion dress, but there's a hole in my me-made wardrobe that the hoodie would fill very nicely....Ah, the agony of choice!
ReplyDeleteI wouldn't mind getting my hands on the Avocado Hoodie. :)
ReplyDeleteOoh, I have wanted the Avocado hoodie ever since seeing Winnie's versions over at Scruffy Badger :) Thanks so much for the giveaway!
ReplyDeleteGreat giveaway! The online sewing community is a wonderful group of friends! I look forward to the day I can meet some of them in RL... Looks like you have had some good meet-ups and fun! I love the Avocado Hoodie- Looks like a nice "bandwagon" to jump on. Happy Dew Grateful Week!
ReplyDeleteHa! Kitty will be in charge of our selection process as well, naturally. You can try to bribe him if you enter, but he is rather all business when it comes to draw officiating.
ReplyDeleteI had no idea Disparate Disciplines had the Rosehip tights. I've had the Dandelion Dress on my list for ages so I will have to revisit her site.
ReplyDeleteThank you for hosting such a great giveaway!
I would like to be entered to win the dress pattern. Thank you for giving so many choices!
ReplyDeleteI love the Dandelion Dress pattern; it's a pattern that would suit me too.
ReplyDeleteSuch a delicious agony - consider them 50% off and get both if Mac selects you! ;)
ReplyDeleteIsn't it cozy! ;)
ReplyDeleteWinnie's the best at rocking casual wear with a twist!!
ReplyDeleteThank You. Happy Dew Grateful week right back at you! ;) the sewist community really is rather lovely in person as well as warm & helpful & funny online ;)
ReplyDeleteThey have such a cool range - grab both & consider them 50% off! Best of luck!
ReplyDeleteNot a problem! Mac will be back with the winners on the weekend ;)
ReplyDeleteThanks Rachelle, it's got some fun seaming!
ReplyDeleteBrilliant idea. Thanks! (and I may have my giveaway fixed. Drop by and see if one of mine works for you).
ReplyDeleteGlad to be an enabler ;) I can't seem to find you though ;( Are you able to post a blog link here?
ReplyDeleteThank you for checking my blog! :) I noticed you left a comment on one of my older posts. I am also doing a giveaway, and just wanted to make sure you saw that:

ReplyDeleteGuess I was typing to fast... Sew... Dew... lol :D
ReplyDeleteit made me smile ;)
ReplyDeleteThanks! I shivered just reading your posts on the HoneyCrisp mittens and all your snow - so different to how it's been down here!
ReplyDeleteIt has been a long winter-we've been spoiled with milder ones the last few years.
ReplyDeleteI was going to go visit my parents today but my mom called and said the visibility was very bad at their place. Considering they are surrounded by thick trees, that is remarkable. I thought I would try anyway, but the open highways were awful and it's a two hour dirve. I'll have to try again another day.
Please, enjoy the warmth for me!
I would love to sew the Dandelion dress... Thank you so much for the wonderful giveaway chance!
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness, how have I never seen the RoseHip tights pattern before?! I know what you mean about enabling!
ReplyDeleteHappy Sew Grateful Week :)
